Why is My Period Late?
Women and men will always be different from each other. Basically, the biological factor sets the line. One thing that women envy about men though is the fact that they don’t get monthly visits, aka the period. The monthly visits can come regularly but there are times when they come late than usual. What causes this?
Women’s menstruation can be delayed sometimes because of various reasons. There are also cases when absence of monthly period is not unusual. It is medically called amenorrhea. Amenorrhea happens in different cases. One common case that alarms women is not having the menstruation for nine months. This is due to pregnancy. But, that is not always the case because other women miss their period even when they are not carrying a baby. Next to pregnancy, breastfeeding is a common reason. After giving birth women don’t easily get back to their normal physical make-up especially when they are breastfeeding. It can take months or even a year before the period comes back.
In normal situations where the woman is not pregnant or breastfeeding, reason ranges from contraceptives, stress, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diet and physical activity. There are women who are not ready to get pregnant. They turn to contraceptives. Contraception alters the reproductive cycle thus preventing one to fertilize. Another reason is stress because emotion also has an effect on our physical system.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is also a cause because it is a hormonal imbalance which is common in women. In fact, sometimes it also causes acne and so with the regular secretion of blood. A well-known cause is diet, if women do not have balance diet. In fact, a popular belief is that excessive intake of sour food can hinder the monthly period. Lastly, too much physical activity such as dancing can disable menstruation. Late or not period will always be a woman’s thing.
