Filtration is the process of separating solid particles from liquid particles. Â It may be done through a complicated process with various machines or equipment, but it may also be done in simple ways with the same bottom line. Â The purpose of the process is basically to remove solids from the liquids making either particle more useful.
Filtration is important in many respects. Â In the case of water, for example, much of the world’s water supply needs to go through some form of filtration process to make it safe for drinking. Â Water that is said to be purified may also be referred to as filtered water because of the filtration process it went through. Â In this particular example, the main goal is to remove the solid particles from the water before it reaches the faucets in every household of a certain town or community.
Cooking is also another activity that benefits from filtration. Â In this case, filtration is an important part in using cooking oil, for example. Â In order to re-use and recycle cooking oil, it may be filtered to remove crumbs and other solid particles to make it clear again and ideal for cooking. Through a filtration process, various contaminants may also be removed from the oil thereby making it safer for re-use. Â With filtered cooking oil, cooking and frying is made easier, and the food will also taste better. Some filtration methods will also help reduce the fat content in cooking oil making it more ideal for the health-conscious individual.
The field of chemistry also considers filtration a very important process in studying particles and substances. Â To separate solids and liquids, filtration is a key process in order for an experiment to continue and provide the desired results. Â Various other industries and applications also use filtration making it a very important process for many people.
