Shih Tzu is a breed of dog from China which is physically described as small with long fur and longs silky glossy coat. Aside from being cuddly, what makes this dog interesting is its ability in eating its own poop!

This is a great turn off to some Shih Tzu lovers because this habit of the dog is yucky and sickening. These are the reasons why Shih Tzu and also other animals eat their poops:
They are hungry and they have nothing to eat. Sometimes, the food given to them lacks nutrients and they find their poop healthy that’s why they would rather eat their poop than die because of starvation.
Some dogs are afraid to be punished by their masters because of the habit of pooping anywhere. To please their masters, they just eat their poop to eliminate the proof that they actually pooped not in the right place.

Modeling can also be factors why Shih Tzus eat their poop. They may have seen their parents or other animals eating their poop so they also follow what they see. They thought that what other do is also correct. They look up to older animals as models of their own behavior.

Some animals just have the instinct to eat their poop. Shih Tzus are not human beings that can process information intellectually. They don’t understand what is supposed to be eaten or not.

Shih Tzus may find their pop delicious or aromatic that’s why they eat them without any second thoughts.

This habit of Shih Tzu is definitely unappealing but as dog lovers we need to help our pets get rid of this habit to avoid them from getting sick. Their dog house must b clean always so that they will not get tempted to eat their poop.
